The story

The loan had been personally guaranteed by a promoter-director, which was supposed to be the lender's comfort. The moment repayment came due, the guarantor was gone. Not dramatically, not with a scene: he was simply no longer where any of the paperwork said he would be.

The recovery team did what recovery teams do. They visited every registered address on file; each led nowhere. They called every number they held; one after another had stopped working. A year of conventional recovery effort went in circles, each round ending exactly where the last one had begun.

The frustrating part was that the legal side was ready. Counsel had the action prepared and it was ready to move. The only thing missing was the person, and without a verified address there was no way to effect service of process and no way to start the clock.

By the time the lender approached NARADism the file had been stalled for over a year. The brief was narrow and specific: find him, confirm it on the ground, and give counsel an address that would stand up.

How we approached it

  1. 1

    Mapped the network

The team charted the guarantor's known associates and family connections, the people most likely to still be in contact with someone who did not want to be found.

  2. 2

    Traced the footprint

Digital footprints were traced across utility and property records, looking for connections that did not carry his name but pointed to him.

  3. 3

    Cross-referenced touchpoints

Financial and travel touchpoints were cross-referenced to narrow the picture until a probable relocation city surfaced.

  4. 4

    Confirmed it in the field

A discreet on-ground verification in that city confirmed the location before anything was reported.

Key finding

The guarantor had quietly relocated to a different city. Utility connections at the new address were registered under a family member's name, and he was using a new, unlisted mobile number. None of it was accidental: the arrangement was a deliberate effort to stay untraceable, and it had defeated conventional recovery methods for over a year.

Outcome

A verified current address and a fact-based movement profile allowed legal counsel to finally effect proper service of process, unlocking a recovery case that had been stalled for more than a year.
